How to reduce your traffic fines

We have some good relieving news for you! If you are having headaches and stressing about paying your large amount of traffic fines, there is a procedure to decrease the amount payable IF you have insufficient funds and is struggling with finances.

Please follow the steps below:

Download the following:

Application form : 063_Complete_by_hand-AARTO08(JMPD) (Click to download and print)
(NOTE: Must be completed by hand)

AARTO form : ARRTO FORM (Right click and “save as”)

At the entrance of the JMPD complexes, look for the entrance by the first building on right.

This is what the first corridor looks like, look for the entrance to the traffic fine department.

On the wall, you will see a sign “Traffic Fines”, go inside.

Step1: After you are inside the “Traffic Fines” department, look for window 1(Information) & 2 (Enquiries), which is located at the far right of the room.

Step2: Go to the “information” window and give them your ID/Driver licence or your car registration to check for any outstanding fines.

Step3: If you have any outstanding fines, download these forms:

Step1: Above is the ARRTO form, for each “traffic fine” insert the traffic notice in each line.
Step2: After all the forms has been completed, you will need to have it certified by a “Commissioner of Oath”, which can be your local accountant, Police station, or even Lawyer firms. Or you can have it stamped by the Police commissioner of oath from below.
Step3: Attach a COPY of your ID documents to EACH ticket.

After you have completed all the forms, please exit the room from “traffic fines” department, and do straight down the corridor.

At the end of the corridor, you will see on your right the police commissioner of oath, please have your traffic fines and ID/drivers/car registration ready.
Note: Your application can be stamped at any commissioner of oath, such as your local police station, lawyer and accounting firms.

After stamping your applications from the commissioner of oath, exit the building and in the picture illustrated above, you need to go across the road to the next building.

At the building look for a sign that says “AARTO ENQUIRIES” and continue with the sign direction and go upstairs.

After arrive upstairs, please go straight down the corridor.

Look for “Room 4″ on the door.

If there is a queue at the teller, please join them and hand in your applications, then the tellers will issue you a notice informing that your fines are being processed.
The notice can be used when the Police or Metro Police request payment for your fines, if you traffic fines has been cancelled, JMPD will send a letter to your registered adress in your forms stating that your fines has been reduced.
